Habitat
Woodlands, especially with mature broad-leaved trees, although mature conifers will support them. Also in parks and large gardens. Will come to peanut feeders and birdtables. Not found in the far North of Scotland. Only a handful of pairs nest in Ireland,

An awesome capture with that big, or should I say huge, lens. Great setting and lighting to show this woody off! This is the first time that I've noticed the tail being so different from our woodpeckers'.
