Great Spotted Woodpecker
Jonno52

Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

Extremely heavy crop: the bird is near the top of the evergreen I call The Far Pine, 56 yards away. The red nape patch, making it a male, can just about be made out.

Thank you for your comments on my pictures, stay safe and well, and and good birding!

That's a cracking pose to capture John. I don't see these too often, unless I'm lucky at one of the reserve feeding stations, but obviously haven't been to them for yonks.

That's a tremendous picture you've taken at that distance my friend. A great pose to get too. Well done laddie.
