A wonderful detailed study of this woodpecker! A great take on that common species that I otherwise wouldn't be so keen to comment on. I like the pose, perch and head turn (allowing us to see not only the whole back but also a part of its belly), but--most of all--I like the white background that nicely sets off the bird's contour.

Not too much of a head turn, that allows us to see he has a red nape!
