Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus)

We occasionally get Roadrunners in our garden, hunting for geckos and small birds. They will hide in the bushes near the bird feeders hoping to catch something. We were sitting on our patio, about 6 yards (5.5 m) away, and it stopped, looked at us for a few seconds before jumping up onto the fence, dropping into the pasture and heading over towards our distant neighbour.

This is one of your species that is in my top 10 if I ever managed to get over to the States Helen.

BTW the Gallery Search only picks up the scientific name from the Tags, if you could try and remember to add it there as well, please. :)
