Green-backed Trogon (Trogon viridis viridis)

This is a male showing a dark head and blue orbital. Females are duller and have a yellow orbital. Until recently this species was lumped with the White-tailed Trogon (Trogon chionurus) which replaces this species west of the Andes. The English name, "Green-backed Trogon" seems to be a misnomer as this individual has a strong blue tone to its back. However these colors are iridescent and vary with light angle.
