Green Heron
Green Heron (Butorides virescens virescens) Five subspecies have been described with three being recognized. Only the nominate is mapped for Costa Rica. Sexes similar. Photographed along Ro Frio near Cao Negro in the Cao Negro Wildlife Refuge, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica. Riverine with some fresh water swamps, pastureland and Cao Negro Lagoon with disturbed tropical lowland rain forest at ca. 30 m (98 ft) elevation.

Easy to see how this bird got its name. A lovely, colourful shot of this beautiful Heron. Very nice indeed Stanley.
