Green Heron (Butorides virescens)

This is a skulking, secretive bird. Prefers riparian marshy habitat. About the only place in the valley to find this bird is in the So. Fork area of the lake, or in the Kern Preserve. However, due to the drought, the habitat choices for this bird have been drastically reduced.
