Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)

Just had the Green Woodpecker back in my garden and it stayed for one and half hours going round my lawn eating ant pupae, got lucky when it came up to my top lawn. taken through my patio window on a very dull and wet day. ISO 3200.

Looks like it has been sticking that beak in a lot of nasty places!! lol!! A wonderful image with super detail and color Donald!! That's one way to shoot in the rain!! tfs it!!

Oh yes... wasn't he nice to you Donald. What a great picture you've got of him.

They are so difficult to find up here, sometimes hear them calling in some woods, but they're really quite scarce.
 
Donald, you lucky so and so, a GW for a garden tick, now it is me that is Green. I have GWs up here but they are not easy to track down so still trying for a piccie of one. This is a great photo, well done.
 
Always a lovely garden visitor (though he could have cleaned his bill for you, Donald!).
 
A super green woody capture. Waiting is sometimes the best strategy to get it close. Looks pretty wet. LOL.
