Green Woody Calling (Picus viridis)

Not much of a picture but i noticed something i never thought of before. One might think that the beak should be wide open during their loud call,took a lot of pictures whilst it was calling and on no one did it have its beak open more than this. Could see the sides of the bird bulging in and out but the beak was only slightly open like in this picture. Please correct me if i'm wrong about this.

Have never been this close to a Pecker to notice their habits, but its a lovely image with the pretty blue sky, good un mate.

I normally only here the call when they are doing about 40mph away from me!

Sounds familiar, Ove. I believe that Greenies arent the Peckers that "sing" that way. Enough of a picture.. :)

Edit: Oops. Ment to say I believe that Greenies arent the only Peckers that "sing" that way.
