AMAZING trip to the Darien in Panam... we did mainly highlands (Pirre) and of course, some lowlands required to access the mountain.

A beautiful little bird this nunlet. Many thanks Diego. Is this a different subspecies to your other one showing in Opus already?

Two cracking images of Gallery rarities - what a great trip you had.

Delia, subspecies range limits in this species are rather obscure I would say and not completely clear to me. It is a tiny range to have 3 different subspecies and I am not sure about the diagnostic characteristics. Anyways, following basic sspp info from HBW, this new photo from Panama is the stulta form, while my older Colombian photograph should be the nominal race.

What a lovely bird and didn't you catch a nice pose?
