Grey-headed Woodpecker
A recent split from the Grey Woodpecker. An Ethiopian endemic species. A new one for the database, I think.

lakeside trees
Location
Bishengari lodge, Lake Lagano, Ethiopia
Date taken
nov 2008
Scientific name
Dendropicos spodocephalus

Is that real? lol Its had the hair-dryer through those feathers, im sure! ;) lol Very interesting Woodpecker. Well done :t:

Hadn't noticed it was particularly scruffy but on review i've posted the picture in the wrong orientation. The bird was upside down, which may explain the feather pattern. It's the correct way round now.
