Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea) (Ardea cinerea)

One of the many Grey Herons to be found in the Northern Highlands. I also have pictures of youngsters and adults in a thriving heronry at Lochinver, Sutherland, which forum rules about nests prevent me from posting.

Thanks Lisa and Mali. Had a wonderful week birdwatching in the Highlands of Scotland. Mali, you would have loved the show put on by over 40 Arctic Terns who arrived and took over one of the pontoons in the marina, a bit like a bunch of rockers invading Hastings!
