Grey Partridge. (Perdix perdix)

Unsure of the sex, Quote!! the only major and constant difference between the sexes is the so-called cross of Lorraine on the tertiary coverts of females these being marked with two transverse bars, as opposed to the one in males. Can anybody make sense of this quote related to this image.

Thanks Cora!! they are very shy birds, caught this one scampering away for cover was lucky to get a shot and boy can they move.
