Griffon Vulture with brass goats bell attached to neck (gyps fulvus)

This totally wild Griffon Vulture was obviously caught at some point in its life, and sadly had a goats bell attached to its neck. I photographed it in Garganta Verde, a large canyon close to the town of Grazalema in Andalucia, Spain. The canyon has a year round colony that I try to visit once or twice a year, but on my last visit I was somewhat surprised to see this Leviathan gliding towards me sporting the latest in brass bells that are normally found on the omnipresent domesticated goats. I watched it fly and glide for a couple of hours and it appears the bell does not in anyway hinder it. Luckily being carrion eaters they do not have to use the element of surprise to feed. Strange how some people get their kicks !!!
