Griffon Vultures in Riglos

Griffon Vultures in Riglos (Gyps fulvus)

This is from the fantastic village of Riglos in the Spanish part of the Pyrenees. We went there to get close encounters of Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus/ gsgam), and so we did!

At most there were 36 vultures flying in the air at the same time and if we did a really stupid climb of one of the VERY steep hills you could get very close to them.....

Dangerous but really exiting!!! Both Ulla and I were totally exhausted after this adventure... and my legs did still hurt 2 days after this.... ;o)

I guess we are not 20 anymore, but it is a comfort that the the other people in our age did not attempt a climb at all and just stood there below and looked.

We will come back to this amazing place on earth!
