Nice image. What you have here is two species: California and Ring-billed. If you look closely at your nice image, you will notice that the back ground birds have yellow eyes, this is indicative of Ring-bille. California gulls, at any stage of development, never have yellow eyes, alway dark brown. Moreover, note the color of the bills. The Ring-billed is yellow, where the California is pinkish. Note also the black at the tips of the bills. On the Ring-billed it does not extend all the way to the tip, forming a "ring", hence the name "Ring-billed". Note on the California gull the black extends completely to the tip. As adults this (in the California) will retract slightly and form a bi-colored bill: black spot on mandible, and a red and black spot on the maxilla. Good image. :t: :t: ;)
