Halmahera Flowerpecker
A male displaying the diagnostic red breast patch which females lack. Easy to identify by its small size and stunted shape, this is the only flowerpecker within its limited range in the north Moluccas. Formerly lumped with the Buru Flowerpecker (Dicaeum erythrothorax) under the name "Flame-breasted Flowerpecker." Flowerpeckers are in their own family (Dicaeidae) and as far as known, they never actually peck flowers. Instead they eat fruit, especially mistletoe, and nectar.
