If Mallards weren't so common, we'd be driving from the far corners of the county to see them whenever one was reported, as we do now when a Mandarin on rare occasions shows up.

that is indeed true for many of the common birds, Ann, splendid photo with superb lighting giving wonderful colours, top notch, many tfs!!!

Indeed, if these birds happen to be infrequent or non existent for some birders they would high on those birders priority list. Gorgeous drake and beautiful close-up Doc! TFS!
