Himalayan Jester (35-43mm).

Another butterfly BFs Jeff Harding (Oregonian) and I came across at Sun Moon Lake on Wednesday. With Taiwan having the highest mountains in East Asia (Yushan Peak 3952m, with over 200 peaks higher than 3000m), Taiwan's mountains are home to many 'Himalayan' species like this Himalayan Jester.

Can see you have a full blown butterfly season there, Mark! We don't even had one appears (understandable, today is 6 degrees C and it is a WARM day!) Very beautiful catch, this one!
 
It is so beautiful, it always amazes me how these delicate little creatures survive and travel to the most hostile of places.
