Himalayas - 131 (Picus squamatus)

To Himalayas ...
... for a week

Here's an image taken
there ...

we are
leaving to work in
the Charity Medical Camp
in Himalayas ... organized
twice a year ...

To give a reality check
on ground situation
I must tell that
we ... the two of us
will be ...
driving through
that area
of Northern state of
Uttar Pradesh
that has, recently
been in the News for
all wrong reasons ...

( ... lynching ... and
Police atrocities of
one kind or other ... )

... and we have been
driving through the
region for
a long time now ...

... and all said and done
we must
rise above all this ...
... do good work ...
and come back with
some presentable
bird-images ... and
videos
... as well ...

What a fantastic bird! As for Uttar Pradesh ... is that the district where two young women were allegedly sentenced to be raped because their brother had eloped with a woman from a higher caste? The villagers deny the rumor, I gather, but the practice of lynching and raping is not entirely unknown. Still, as you say, a doctor's job is to treat the ill. And in the long run I'm sure it benefits a society in many ways when it is offered care and human kindness. Kindness engenders kindness ... so go forth and be kind |=)|

Super sharp shot Alok, blends in well except the red cap gives it away. Nice on my friend.
