The Forest ...

It was late ... late
... evening in the
pristine Himalayan
forest of Sat Tal ...

We were moving out
to reach the road
where our
vehicle was parked

... in an opening
a tree had fallen close
to the clump of
bushes growing on the
edge ...
... a Black-naped male ...
... and a Brown-fronted
Woodpecker female came
face to face ... moving
from opposite sides
...
The lady ... much smaller
in size, was obviously,
scared of the robust
looking large male ...

... and slowly slid down
on the underside of
the bough ... away from
the piercing gaze
of the male of wrong
species (... wrong for
her ... ) ... but after
assessing that he has
no bad intentions ... she
came back to the log
again ... and started
feeding peacefully ...

Watch this little
day-end encounter in
a video-clip ...

Beautiful video. Making wildlife documentaries is a pretty challenging task. Single videos already give a foretaste of it.

Gosh!! What a great double-catch that was Alok.

A lovely picture of these two as well. Many thanks for showing them to us my friend.

Though he is a striking looking chap, I can't blame the small female from being a bit intimidated. Great behavioral shot Alok & Renu!
