Himemadara-edashaku (Abraxas niphonibia)

Gotta love that Japanese name, eh? ... a real mouthful!
A kind of Abraxas, or "magpie moth".
This one agreed to sit on my left index finger while I took its picture. It was so "agreeable" that I was wondering if it was actually OK or not. But, sure enough, when I eventually gave it a bit of a nudge, it properly fluttered away ... leaving the photographer behind ... to wonder even more.

It sounds like a mutualistic event that both will remember. Brilliant moths with excellent colors and detail. TFS this experience with us Frank!!!!
