Hit & miss...

Hit & miss...

Never really taken many flight shots, as usually tend to end up with 'arty shots' i.e. blurred :) However i gave it a go, as i had plenty of time & could experiment a bit...there was still many more misses, than hits, but occasionally some came out ok...the Sandwich Tern seemed to fly a little slower, than the Common/Artic Terns, which kind of helped :)

Inner Farne, Northumberland

Well, you nailed this one ... perfect wing angle and good detail!

Beautiful exposure, really captures the greyness of the day and doesn't blow the highlights. Pinprick sharpness on the fish. Quite grainy - is it heavily cropped?

Ta for your comments
OzGora, yes as been cropped down to make it a 'square' pic, as even when square, was still too big, so as been reduced quite a lot to get it down to '800 x 800 max', so i guess the 'grain' is to do with all that cropping/compressing etc. Though having looked at the original image more closely, it does seem to be more grainy than i realised originally!! Why i don't know, maybe my unsteady hands & waving the camera around trying to get a shot didn't help :)
Thanks again.. Mike
