Hold still!!

I put out peanut butter for the birds, but the larger ones, like woodpeckers blue jays and even doves will gobble it up. In order to give smaller birds like chickadees and nuthatches a chance at it, I strung a line and loosely tied some pine cones to it. I put peanut butter in them, and small birds have no trouble with it. However, the big birds have trouble perching on the wire and getting peanut butter out of a pine cone that keeps spinning around the line when they peck at it. It's fun to watch their efforts though.

You could try hanging it from a branch with fishing line. The larger birds don't get to mine but the smaller ones have no problems ;)

I bet you have fun watching them feed, Bill! A great action shot.

A brilliant action capture and narrative, Bill !!! Thanks for sharing. I have the same problem here with the woodpigeons.

Clever! My corvids would work it out, I bet. But as you say, I'd have a lot of fun watching them |=)|
