Hoopoe (Upupa epops)

A shot from last summer. Hoopoe are a very rare sight on Taiwan with only a couple of sightings reported annually during the spring and autumn migration. Hoopoe are a common resident on Taiwan's offshore island of Kinmen in the Taiwan Strait and also in SE China. This Hoopoe is most likely of race saturata which is found in SE China.
