and not very "birdy", sadly. But if the birds don't show up, there are always bugs and plants to see. And even just seeing the scenery, and the signs still visible of damage from Hurricane Katrina, made the day trip worthwhile. But yes, there were also birds. Still ... we'll start with this grasshopper, even though I don't know the species. Those "hinges" on his back legs were quite eye-catching.
