Hoverfly (Syrphus ribesii: Syrphidae) This hoverfly is ca. 12 mm (0.47 in) long. It was visiting all of the early spring flowers. Photographed at Camelot Park, Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, USA. Open park with scattered pecan, hackberry and elm trees at ca. 91 m (300 ft) elevation. Post Oak Savannah Vegetational Area. The small white flowers with pink veins are Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica: Portulacaceae).
