How to... (SF)
.... make a mess of a new species for the garden!! Take it sideways through the double-glazing!

After my neighbours lowered the hedge by a few feet I noticed that they'd got feeders hanging from their tree.

Last year was the first time I'd seen/heard any Greenfinches at all in the area, just a couple in the early Spring. Now here were two on that feeder (never been on mine the ratbags!)

I was so surprised, didn't dare open the window, didn't want to waste any time. And this was the result.

Oh well I thought.... maybe they'll be back. But not seen them since. I did hear one calling in the car park a week ago, but couldn't see it.

I live in hope!

Hopefully they will be back and you will be able to get a clearer picture - in the meantime, if you havent already, get a niger feeder, or maybe it’s black sunflower seeds, as that looks what they are tucking into at the competition’s cafe next door 😁

Well, you did the right thing, then. Always grab what you can before trying for a better angle, closer shot, open window ... whatever. Come to think of it, could be you who taught me that some years back ;)

We have a few Greenfinches on our feeders, Delia. They can be very aggressive towards one another in the spring. The fights don't seem to result in any injuries but they are very entertaining.
