Hummer feeding on Firespike

This perennial plant dies back in the Winter and faithfully returns in the Spring. By late Summer, the red flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds. This female ruby throat hummingbird will soon be migrating further south by mid October. I miss them when they are gone. They return in March.
