Hummer
This is probably a Blue-vented Hummingbird but I'm not sure. I saw it at a coffee shop near Monteverde which had lots of feeders set up. The owner told me it was a blue-tailed hummingbird but they're supposed to be extremely rare in Costa Rica aren't they?

Edit: I'll go with steely-vented then, thanks CrimsonTopaz!
Habitat
Roadside
Location
Monteverde, Costa Rica

Scientific name
Amazilia hoffmanni

Canon S5 IS
It really looks to me like a Steely vented hummer, thanks to the fluffy feet and beautiful green plumage :t:

I agree with Crimson Topaz. Steely-venteds are common around Santa Elena and a good place to see them are at feeders such as those at Stellas bakery (which also has brownies that you must try!!). Blue-tailed shows quite a bit of rufous in the wing (kind of like a Berylline).
