Hunting with the Eagles.

Hunting with the Eagles. (Larus californicus)

I watched several gulls feeding at the mouth of a small creek that had a Kokanee Salmon run under way. Eagles were perched in the area and as soon as a Merganser or Gull dove on a fish an Eagle would swoop down and atempt a theft, quite successfully I might add.

Nice shot Rick. Intriguing to hear about the Eagle's behaviour too. Here in the UK some of Scotland's White-tailed Sea Eagles regularly prey on Fulmars, snatching them from the air as the Fulmars mob them. I understand that in one nest on the Isle of Skye the remains of more than 100 Fulmars were found!
