I think this one's an Eastern
Doc Duck

I think this one's an Eastern (Sturnella magna)

Meadowlark, that is. And if I'm right, then this too was a lifer. There were both Eastern and Western Meadowlarks reported at the Bosque. One differentiating trait is that the Easterns have a white patch from the lower mandible down alongside the yellow throat plumage, whereas the yellow plumage on Westerns' throats continues all the way up to the mandible ... usually. Unfortunately, there's a lot of variability, so I could be wrong here. Stanley? You would know. Can you confirm or correct?

Yeah, it matches up pretty well with the Eastern variety I see here. Nicely captured Doc and some good focusing.

Ooooh another great Lifer you've got and it's lovely the way he's peeking up above the grass.

Nice work here lassie and congrats on your newbie.
