I had trouble with the ID area in the forum, and this isn't a bad photo. Is this female red wing or tri colored?

My limited experience with this species was several decades ago but I would say this is definitely not a female Red-winged Blackbird. The striping from its upper chest down needs to be equally dark and whitish in width. Two: the face needs some rusty-orchraceous coloring. Three: they are lighter overall than this bird.
The thinnish bill, overall dark coloration, and grayish white throat makes me believe it is a Tri-colored female. However, the real problem that I remember is the first-summer male Red-winged Blackbird. Since these two species hang with each other they are exceptionally hard in the field. I would also seek another opinion from someone that knows more about the Tri-colored than I do. Well it was a nice ramble with no real help (lol). Cheers and good luck!!!

Thank you for taking the time and providing the information Stanley, I appreciate it. Your thoughts were the same as my friend who is also is a very solid source of information. Thanks again.

Never having seen a Tri-colored I can't ascertain that description for you. I can tell you that this is not a female Red-winged. I see hundreds of the Red-winged each year and this is no match. It is an awesome image you've captured. So, so beautiful.
