In The Palm Tree

This species is very unique as when they are mating they stand over the hollow of a tree and with there claw beat a stick against the tree trunk like a drummer to entice the female to the hollow then shred the stick in to shavings to line the hollow. This is one of my favorite bird's of the world

Terrific shot of this wonderful bird...I had recently seen a nature program on

TV, with a segment on this bird and they mentioned what you have described

The program on Sunday was a fizzer where we live, terrible reception for just that program and I had been waiting all week to see it. Oh well I suppose it will come out on a DVD.
 
Wonderful bio on the bird. Saw this behavior on Sir David's "The Life of Birds": it is also my favorite of the Cockatoo's. Nice image. :t: :t: :t:
