Into the Sun. (Falco tinnunculus)

These Kestrel always appear late on in the day when it is the most difficult to get a decent photo. The wind today was from the west where the sun was going down and the birds were facing into the sun in front of me. This female Kestrel did the same thing and the shots were not good, then my luck changed, she flew in a large circle coming back towards me and hovered. Still not good but I took the shot, she then dived towards the ground but stopped some 8/10 meters above ground and hovered again. This was the shot I acquired from that position. Well pleased.

An excellent Kestrel capture taken in lovely lighting, John! I had a bit of luck with a male Kestrel during our Easter break.
