I know what you mean about it affecting your work. When i go up to work on my allotments there are so many birds around and so many robins vieing for the grubs and worms i dig out that I spent much more time than i should watching them! I dont know about the stabilised lens but your photos look pretty sharp to me.
I had a pair feeding like this on my fat ball last week. My wife did not believe me when I said this was mating behaviour. I have not managed the knack yet of getting to the camera in time. Well done. By the way how do you keep the starlings away from the meal worms when I tried them the robins had no chance.
