It's that time of year again (Cygnus atratus)

Black Swan

Not nesting yet, but definitely feeling the first stirrings...this Swan came off the water and immediately began to compulsively gather up all the sticks and scraps of wood it could find and pile them around itself as though building a nest. With the first of this season's cygnets already on the water, it won't be long now before the new generation of Swans will surround us. :t:
Habitat
Large open waters, fresh, brackish and salt; flooded pastures, green crops; tidal mudflats. Prefers larger permanent swamps and lakes with emergent and subaquatic vegetation. Widespread and common. Sedentary, nomadic and dispersive.
