As we were trying to leave the ferry port on Edoy to drive around Smola, we had to stop and wait for this tern to clear the road!

Actually, I found the drivers in Norway were very considerate to pedestrians... as they approached a crossing the cars would stop, not just when they saw you standing there waiting! Also they stopped if you were on the far side of the road and there was a central reservation, you were allowed to complete the whole crossing before they moved on.... and that in a city too!!!

That's what the rules are, but I must say ... not all drivers follow them, not all the time at any rate.
