Junco replacements (Spinus tristis)

A female american goldfinch taking a look around. When the weather was bitterly cold, we were overrun with dark eyed juncos. In the last day or so we had a huge upswing in the temperatures, from well below freezing to about +10C (50F) today. Now, not a single junco can be seen, they have totally disappeared, to be replaced by flocks of american goldfinches.

I wonder where the Juncos have gone, then ...? Still, variety is the spice of a birder's life, and this is a lovely replacement |=)|
