Just hanging around

The big Hairy Woodpecker again. Here he's on an ash tree in our yard, checking out the knothole where I spread peanut butter for the chickadees and nuthatches.

Speaking of the nuthatches, there's two white breasts who have claimed this tree as their own. Not long after I took this, I saw them come down from the upper branches and they actually drove the much larger woodpecker away!! Unfortunately I didn't have my camera handy when that happened. :(

Excellent close-up profile of this large Hairy. Great focus, dof, colors, feather detail, colors, and setting. Superb Adele!!!

Thanks for sharing this superb capture of this Hairy, Wonderview. All I see are Downies around here. And that's so interesting about the Nuthatches! Never knew they could be so territorial.
