Juvenile night heron

Juvenile night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax)

I thought it was a little bittern until I got a closer look. There were about 3 of them visible from the hide, perched in short wetland grass right in front of the hide. I was expecting WAY more elusive! They at times flew at each other and started croaking a lot like frogs do, which enabled me to identify it. This bird in Russia is known exactly like that - 'the Croaker'
