During July and early August, I had some odd events, of
which I've already told you some of the tales (Blue Tit in my lounge, and a Blackbird and Starling trying to get in).
One night I shut the window (well after dark as it was very warm) and 5 minutes later something small flew across the room and landed above the blind on the curtain rail with its back to me. My first thought was bat then it flew through to the kitchen and I realised it was a bird... then realised it was a young Wren!! I've never even heard Wrens singing round here, let alone seen one! The light in the kitchen was too poor for a picture unfortunately and it was much too flighty to catch. I opened all the windows and it found its way out.
A few days after that this young Song Thrush came in. I've only very occasionally heard one singing here!! Never seen one in the garden though.
I caught him up on the tea towel, carried him to the window and he showed no sign of wanting to leave me, so I came back, got my camera and managed a few shots, before he eventually plucked up the courage to fly off.
A wonderful experience that.
