Juvenile Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

I seem to have a few youngsters in this August folder. Couldn't resist showing you this one, as the new feathers coming through look so pretty.

Still not looking too sure of itself but it would feel better if it could see this lovely image of itself ;)

They look so strange when they're morphing into adult plumage, and confuse some people with the ID...Well captured Delia.

A beautiful, detailed close-up of this youngster in a lovely setting, Delia. Thanks for sharing.

Great capture showing the transition, Delia. They're great birds to watch change from juvenile to adult; I doubt many other birds change as much, but I've not really read up on it.

Like a pair of windows into adulthood |=)| Lovely shot!
Oh, and no, the Lapwings weren't lifers, although I hadn't posted any to BF before. I'd seen some on a trip to Chile about 10 years ago, before I started birding. I should maybe post some of those later. As I recall, I got a nice shot of a S. Lapwing chick on that trip. ... nope. just checked. not much of a shot. somewhat better shot of the black-headed swan tho'. might post that one some day.
