Hello gopish.

Your gull is actually a juvenile Ring-billed Gull moulting to first winter.

Thanks for the comments. And Jan, you may be right as I at first thought it to be ring billed but it seemed quite a bit larger than most ring-bills I have seen and the markings came most of the way around the back. In the books I have the ring billed has brownish markings on the side but the back is white or greyish white. That and the size led me to believe herring, but, I am not the best on gull ID, especially the juvi's so will defer to those better than I. Thanks for the tip.
