Kamchatka Gull
Just going through some old photos and found this one. Depending on which system you use, this is either a Common Gull, Mew Gull, or a Kamchatka Gull.
Larus canus ssp. seems to work well for me.
These were common visitors in northern Japan.
Habitat
Pond
Location
Shimoda-Machi, Aomori-Ken, Japan
Date taken
25 Feb 2005
Scientific name
Larus canus kamtschatschensis
Equipment used
Canon A70
Good system explanation. I've noticed an increase to the variety of gulls around Niigata recently. Difficult to identify but interesting birds.

I thought: 'Kamchatka Gull, that's a new one, I'll try to remember it.'
Then I looked at the full picture and I thought: 'Looks a lot like a Mew Gull.'
Then I read on ...
Great shot, Daniel.
