Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)

It seemed an odd place to see this kestrel this morning - in the middle of a conifer plantation. I guess it must have known what it was doing. Usually I see them in more open places.
Location
Tilery Wood, Wynyard, Cleveland. UK.
Date taken
23rd February 2009
Scientific name
Falco tinnunculus
Equipment used
Canon 40D+Canon 400mm f5,6
Looks in deep contemplation Ian, perhaps it was hiding itself away, and having a goood old meditate mate, sweet take.

A lovely image Ian. The greenish grey background complements the bird's plumage beautifully. I love these little hawks.
