Thanks scottishdude. Its a fantastic place and the birds dont seem to be bothered with the big lenses sticking out the hide not to mention the SLR shutter noise. Highly recommended. this was my first visit - what a day!

Who knows, I may see you there one day.

This bird gets 10/10 for ambition! :-D A splendid capture of a bird with big ideas, great work!

The perch is one of the great pests of Australian waterways, having been introduced by humans who scorned the local species when they first arrived here. Because it eats the eggs and larvae of other species, it has almost wiped out some of our native species - in South Australia it is an offence to return a perch to the water alive. The only species that copes well with their presence is the introduced European carp - how we humans have messed up our world by trying to manipulate nature!

The redfin makes good fishing and good eating, however, and it's good to see one in its natural environment - well not exactly in it, but you know what I mean...

LOL, I'd called this "Perch + Kingfisher", the prey is almost bigger than the hunter!!! :'D Very nice catch!!! :t: :t: :t:
