Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)

Kingfisher with stickleback. After a 40 minute wait this juvenile turned up landing right in front of where I was sat. It remained for 53 minutes in total catching several fish. Most it swallowed straight away as soon as it landed. These always took a lot longer as it struggled to remove the spines by bashing the fish against the branch.

It's like I can reach through the screen and stroke it. What a lovely close-up.
