Kitchen window image (Dendrocopos major)

the woodies have been busy at the feeder and staying longer than usual. He/she (cant tell without checking the back of the head) seems to have a pronounced yellow-orange patch below the wing which I dont see in HBW

Yes, interesting that Max. The Opus does say 'buffish white underparts', but most pictures seem to be pure white, don't they. Even youngsters don't seem to show it do they.

Wonder if it's worth showing it to the ID forum and see if anyone there has seen this? Do you know if it was the same on both sides? Might be worth looking out for if he comes back.
