Lady Cardinal basking in sunlight (Cardinalis cardinalis)

I find that Cardinals will catch any slight movement and move away quickly, even the movement of the camera lens panning to get the shot.

Smart birds, especially with the threat of raptors flying around. This is excellent Donny. That raised crest is super.

What's grabbed her attention to make her crest come up like that LOL

A super picture this Donny thanks my friend.

Absolutely stunning, Donny, thanks for sharing! Perhaps the conspicuous, brightly colored appearance of Cardinals forces them to be extra wary of even the slightest movements around them ... a well needed survival instinct!

You're exactly right cause they are that way with me too Donny. That said, you sure won out this time cause this is one smokin' shot guy.

Well, a lot of birds do that Donny. Self preservation I presume. Very lovely lady equally beautifully captured, Donny!! tfs.

A lot of birds are like that Donny, but you managed to nail this beauty before she vacated the scene...Another cracking capture buddy, love that clean multi-coloured backdrop too.
